Some people want a public number attached to a username. Some people want to see if they can take a spot. Some people think the idea is stupid and pay anyway, which is a very internet reason.
FYCC does not claim a deeper psychology as a service. It just bills a monthly amount and keeps score for the people who opt into the board.
What they are not buying
They are not buying a savings plan, a community badge that pays out, or a shortcut to #1. Rank is not a Price. The gap to the person above you is Lifetime, not a checkout total you can clear in one invented amount.
If that sounds like a bad deal, it is allowed to sound like a bad deal. The stop button is on the dashboard.
The loop
Discover the board. Understand it in ten seconds. See a name at #1. Want a place. Pay. Climb. Share the URL with ?u=yourname. Someone else arrives already knowing what the joke is.
That loop only works if the payments are real and the ranks are public. So that is what the site does.
